What a gas furnace installation involves
A proper install starts before anything is unbolted. We measure the home, check duct sizing and return air, and look at the existing gas line and venting to see what carries over and what does not. Then the old unit comes out, the new cabinet is set and sealed, gas and electrical connections are made, and venting is run to spec. We start the furnace, check burner operation and temperature rise, and confirm airflow at the registers before we pack up.
What we check and install on the day
We handle the gas connection, the flue or vent run, condensate where the design calls for it, and the electrical tie-in. Thermostat wiring gets checked and, if the old control cannot run the new equipment, replaced. We inspect the ductwork close to the unit for leaks and loose joints, since a new furnace pushing air into bad duct wastes the whole job. Filter access, drain slope and clearances around the cabinet all get set so future heating repair visits are straightforward.
How we decide replacement is the right call
Age matters, but the deciding factors are usually the heat exchanger, the frequency of repairs and whether parts are still available. A cracked or suspect heat exchanger ends the conversation, and we will say so directly. If a furnace is still sound and the fix is a board, an igniter or a flame sensor, we will quote the furnace repair instead. Many homes across the region run heat pumps with gas backup, so we also look at how the two systems share the work before recommending anything.

How long does a gas furnace installation take?
Most straight swaps run a single day. If venting has to be rerouted, the gas line needs work, or ductwork near the cabinet is being repaired, plan on a second day and we will tell you upfront.
Can I keep my existing ductwork and thermostat?
Often yes. We inspect the duct near the unit for leaks and sizing problems, and we check whether your thermostat can control the new furnace. If either holds the system back, we explain the options before we start.
What if I smell gas around the furnace?
Leave the building immediately, do not touch switches, and call 911 or your gas utility from outside. Once they have cleared the property, call us and we will inspect the furnace and its connections.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptoms
You describe what changed. No cold air, a breaker that keeps tripping, water near the air handler, a smell, a noise. That gives us a head start on parts before we ever leave the shop.
- Step 2
We diagnose on site
A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow through the filter and coil, refrigerant behavior and the outdoor unit. We look at the whole system, because a frozen coil usually points somewhere else.
- Step 3
You decide the repair
We explain what failed, what it takes to fix it, and how long the rest of the system is likely to hold up. You pick the repair. We do not start work you did not approve.

Why homeowners call us
- Rural routes are normal for usWe drive long stretches between calls and we plan for it. Trucks carry the common heat pump and air conditioner repair parts so a diagnosis does not turn into a second trip on a hot afternoon.
- Heat pumps and sandy soilMost homes we visit run a heat pump, and sand, lawn clippings and pollen pack the outdoor coil fast. We clear it, check the defrost side in winter, and show you what we found before we close it up.
- Well water housesHomes on well water bring their own quirks, from pump-driven electrical noise to hard water on drain lines and condensate pans. We know where those systems clog and where the slow leaks hide.
- Heating repair tooCold snaps in this region are short and hard. We do heating repair and heater repair on heat pumps, strip heat and furnaces, so one crew handles your system in July and again in January.
- All major brands, gas & electricOne independent crew for Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem and more.
- Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
